Playa Mujeres is Cancun’s newest luxury resort destination. Set on the Caribbean along a two-mile stretch of beach just north of Cancun, Playa Mujeres feels wonderfully remote yet is conveniently only 25 minutes from Cancun International Airport. This resort oasis is situated on the mainland sheltered by Isla Mujeres, on an untouched 20-mile peninsula separating the Caribbean and the Chacmochuc Lagoon, a national wildlife preserve.
At the heart of a luxury Caribbean resort community, Excellence Playa Mujeres is an all inclusive resort and spa within walking distance of a 170-slip inland marina and Playa Mujeres Golf Club. This gorgeous 18-hole course was designed by world-renowned golf champion and course designer Greg Norman. Featuring nine Caribbean holes and nine flanking the picturesque Chacmochuc Lagoon, this 7,260-yard course was constructed with special regard for the exotic tropical flora and fauna that make the location so noteworthy.
The area surrounding Excellence Playa Mujeres includes many of Mexico’s top tourist destinations. The Yucatan Peninsula is world-renowned for its Mayan archeological sites. Venture south from Excellence Playa Mujeres to experience the extensive ruins at Chichen Itza, including The Temple of the Warriors and El Castillo, the famous Mayan pyramid that has become a national symbol of Mexico.
Just fifteen miles north of Playa Mujeres is Isla Contoy, a national park and island wildlife sanctuary known for attracting nesting turtles and for being home to some 150 bird species. Excellence Playa Mujeres also enjoys proximity to the Great Mayan Reef—the second longest coral reef in the world, and an international destination for snorkeling and diving.
The bohemian fishing island Isla Mujeres, just offshore from Excellence, is a short ferry ride away and offers a variety of shopping and dining options. And when you’re ready for the hustle and bustle of Cancun, Excellence Playa Mujeres is only 20 minutes from the shopping and restaurants and bars of the Cancun hotel zone.
